Three unopened, 500mL water bottles were used.

The water bottles were emptied approximately halfway and filled
with roughly 250mL of rice using a funnel.

The water bottles were closed and labeled. The centre one has no
labelling and remains as a control. The bottles were placed about
17cm apart and left for a week.
